Memo Gidley will be back in action at the Crown Royal 200 - joining Team Sahlen!
Strong addition for the local team.

Billy Johnson will be racing in the Nationwide Series race just prior to the Crown Royal 200, teaming with Colin Braun.

I was at the Nationwide race this weekend at Iowa Speedway. Yes the speedway is surrounded by corn fields. Colin Bruan does not belong in a stock-car. He is a fantastic road racer...maybe it is the team but he found the wall during his qualifying run.

Does anyone know whether or not Starworks Motorsports will be at the Glen? I always thought that entries needed to be in a few weeks before the race.

You can enter at the track. The policy is that if you don't enter 3 weeks before the event, then it'll cost you an extra $500. If you enter at the track, then it'll cost you an extra $1000. Then there are those cases where you can actually run the weekend and not pay an entry fee. You will show up on live timing and scoring but not on the official timing sheets. The entry is paid when you turn that first lap in the race. if there are not enough cars, the prize money you get will pay for the entry.

In essence, you never get the prize money as it's applied toward the entry. For example, at WG, there are 15 cars entered in GT. 15th place pays $4000. So, you will need to pay $500 as the entry only costs $3500 but there is a $1000 penalty for entering at the track. As for DP you'll need to fork over $1000 if you show up as a last minute entry. At that point, the entry is paid for as long as you start the race. If you never start the race, then you never show up on any of the official timing and scoring sheets.

As for GS and ST, it's a different story. There are too many cars. You'd have to finish 5th in your respective class just to cover the entry. Also, paying $1000 penalty for a ST team is a 50% penalty. For DP it's just over 22%.

My Guess is it was Colin that put it in the wall and not the team since he was driving at the time... LOL

The reason he's there and not here? Easy, he gets paid to be there, alot more than he would be getting in Grand-Am if someone paid him to drive (which is rare these days)

Opps you are correct on both points. Oh I know that Colin is getting paid but gee whiz...looked like he drove it in a little to hard and around she came.

I just realized that the Turner BMW is not on the entry list. I'd have to assume that it's because of the ALMS conflict for Auberlen and Hand. It's a shame to see them miss the race.

Sorry I missed you.

Who is James Davison...#7 SAMAX entry? Oops, just read about him on the G-A site.

SoD Coyote is P2 in the 2nd practice session. They get points for that, right?

Interesting comment by Mark Patterson during the SPEED interview. Something about GT3 cars showing up in the Rolex Series.

I am a little bit confused about the Team Sahlen Entries and hope you could help me a bit.

In Entrylist and in all results at GARRA are Gidley/Wa.Nonnamaker called in the #42 Car.

In the LapTimes.pdf and on myLaps.com and Motorsport.com are both called on the #43 Car for Quali and Race (all practice with #42)

At GARRA the #43 Car was raced by Joe+Wi Nonnamaker and Joe Sahlen.

Did the switched the car during this weekend ????

A big reason for the confusion is that the team waits until the last minute to assign drivers to cars.
I believe it was Wayne and Memo in the 43 and Will and the two Joes in the 42 - that's what Will told me.

Makes sense. With that rumor of Irish Mikes selling everything to go run an Audi in GT3.
